Time for Metamorphosis Monday, thanks to our hostess
Check out her great blog and all those who are making
metamorphosis things happen this week!
BEFORE...I have been trying to get some Fall decorating , as I was cleaning, done this last week.
So I decide to do the living room fireplace mantel for one thing.
I have this thrift store find oval mirror in the mantel niche that is painted gold.
I decided it needed a change first.
(Click on any photo to enlarge and see closer)
So with trusty flat black spray paint I gave the mirror a face lift.
Flat black paint is my new favorite for sure.
I also changed out my buffet lamp shades to black ones I have, for the lamps on
The black brings out some of the black in the fireplace bricks too.
Then I added these neat Mary Carol gift ware
"people" urns I found recently for $10 each at ROSS.
I love their natural color.
There is this lady...
And then the gentleman as well.
Their baskets on their backs are open. I think they might be nice with
some bunches of wheat or other colorful fall greenery in them too.
But for now I just put these white pumpkins with sayings on them.
Then I added some black candle sticks with cream candles other pumpkins
and gourds I had from last year to the mantel.
Kind of simple and a neutral color scheme but something
different than the usual which is what I wanted.
And Met Monday #2
BEFORE...my estate sale $10 large old
Victorian plaster work frame.
Had a bad and dirty old paint job on it.
Now it looks still old and beautiful with all it's details
but freshened up and clean with
some coats of antique white paint.
I think I am using it in our master bedroom, I have
a plan for it!
