Show & Tell Friday.....lets talk Milk Glass!

Hi, glad to be back and have the time to join in Show and Tell Friday, thanks to
Cindy at http://www.romantichome.blogspot.com/ for hosting us !
Be sure and check out her fabulous blog and see who else is Showing & Telling this week.

I haven't talked milk glass for sometime, so thought I would show and tell about some
of my collection, one of my largest is milk glass.
In this case specifically Creamer and Sugar sets.

A grouping of many but not all that I have.
Many I have found as sets but sometimes I would find one piece or the other and then
hunt for awhile for it's mate.
(Click on any photo to enlarge and see closer)

One of the first sets I found at a garage sale, this is Flute and Crown
pattern, org. by Westmoreland Specialty Co. were condiment containers but later
molds sold or bought by Imperial Glass Co. which these are . There is also a covered butter dish which I have that matches.

This pretty set with lots of detail work to it is marked with a very stylish M
on the bottom, I believe for the McKee Glass Co. but I have yet to find these in a
reference book. But they are such a pretty and dainty set.

One of my oldest sets; Atterbury "Sunflower & Lily" pattern made about 1881.
Also a larger set, would hold alot of cream and sugar .

Another old old set and rare set; Westmoreland Specialty Company "Cornucopia , these also were made in a pretty blue milk glass often with gold detailing. These also made around late 1800s to early 1900s.

Birds seem to be a theme on may creamer and sugar sets as well.
Like these swans.  Made if I remember right by Atterbury company, probably
some of the oldest and larger ones you could find.
Note the cute swan finial on the covered sugar bowl.

And don't forget the peacocks.
These are Imperial Glass Company but reproduced from older company's molds.
This often happened as the older companies closed and their molds were bought by newer companies in the 40's-70's.

Another older set, more opaque and more "clam brothy" in color.
This is the Scroll and Shell pattern.
And right now I am forgetting the company name  but is late 1800's to early 1900's.
There is also a little covered mustard pot that goes with this set which I also found.

Largest and smallest sets;
Left is Duncan Miller Glass Company's Grape pattern which is probably
my largest set, they are almost strangely over sized but so detailed. Duncan Miller quit
making glass in 1955 and their grape pattern rather hard to find.
Right is a cute little Imperial Glass Company set, I believe is called "Three Toed Ring"
pattern. I have never seen this set anywhere else than when I found it. I would say is Hard to Find to Rare.

Botanical patterns were also popular with milk glass and creamer and sugar sets.
I really like this Imperial Glass Company "Wheat" set since I grew up in Eastern Washington in wheat growing country.

Here is Imperial Glass Company's "Daisy" pattern, another set I have
never seen again in all my years of collecting.

Figural creamer and sugar sets were made as well, like this Owl pattern, originally done by
Challinor and Taylor Company an old mold that was purchased by
Imperial Glass Company.

Lets not forget Westmoreland Glass Company who made this Grape &  Cherry patterned set.
Alot of great detail to these, nice heavy weight.
If you find them with the cherries and leaves etc. painted, those are more rare and
more valuable.
A really pretty Victorian pattern has alot of pretty detail to the set.
Org. a Westmoreland Specialty Company mold .

This is a large portion of my creamer and sugars in my collection but not all.
Hope you have enjoyed seeing them .
I am still on the look out for those I have not found or have seen in books to add to my collection!
The hunt continues!!
