Show & Tell Friday......old but not forgotten.

Time for Show & Tell Friday, I almost forgot so a little late or not, as it is still Friday.
Thank you to Cindy for hosting us! Check out her fabulous blog at,http://romantichome.blogspot.com/ , and see who else is showing and telling this week!

I thought I would share some old family antiques this week and some other old goodies that I have.
These neat Indian beaded and embroidered items I inherited. They were in family things that my great Aunt had that came from our Scherrer side of the family.
The hat with bird is rare and the little bag held the hand written ( in French) note from my GG Grandfather Scherrer to whomever leaving someone money.
I found this old curved glass frame at a garage sale for $10 , so it was perfect to put them in.

Also among these family things were these little leather beaded moccasins.
I wonder what little Indian feet wore these or if they were just made for the tourist trade.

I have a shadow box case that I have filled with old old antique things, some inherited and others found or bought. I just like how it looks with all these treasures inside.
I like to touch and look at them at times and imagine where they have been , who they belonged to and what the era was like they came from.
(Click to enlarge and see closer)

The mother of pearl and brass French opera glasses were inherited, I love them.
So was the leather cut out calling card case and some of these old photos. And the little bone house ( bottom left corner).
Some of the thimbles and other things belonged to ancient family members.

The dried rose was a rose my husband gave me. Some items were found on eBay but most at thrift stores or I inherited them.
A friend sold me the old old cameo piece carved out of horn.

Some things were finds at local thrift stores; like the half doll or pin cushion doll and little
porcelain doll, large old marble and leather pyrography post card.
Old eye glasses and leather autograph book were family things, as was the thimble.

Oh what sweet moccasins, and your shadow box is wonder-filled.
How I would love to sit down with you with a cup of tea and have you tell me all about your thinkings and information about each and every treasure in there.

Thank you for sharing.

What neat things you have and what great ways to display them. "Things" mean a lot to me as well and I know that you treasure them.
