This week, sort of a last minute throw together in the kitchen for lunch.
Not everyone likes to eat their greens, so thought I would put a bit of chocolate ( sort of)
with them and make them more interesting.
First of all let me show you a great photo of some Greentown Chocolate
Cactus Patterned milk glass.
Chocolate milk glass or Chocolate Slag Glass is rather rare to find. It is being reproduced by Martha Stewart and others but the old pieces are rather rare as only one company made most of it, Greentown Glass Co.

I just love this shade of green with chocolate brown!!
Those are sort of the wedding colors for my son and his fiance's wedding
next June.
For the place setting I used my newer chocolate brown mats and napkins, porcelain napkin rings my mother's friend made us, Grandparents silver flatware, brown glasses from Walmart, green and brown Rozanna "La Famille" patterned dinner plates( I would love a whole set of dishes in this), brown rose toile plates from Marshalls and little Green patterned muffin plates by Harry and David, topped off in this place setting by my chocolate milk glass Hen dish. I wish I had 4 of the hen dishes for each place setting.
The hen dish is a commemorative piece done in 2003 by the National Milk Glass Collectors Society. You have to be a member to order them.
The society bought alot of old molds for history sake and also for making commemorative pieces like this for it's members.

Well it is a side ways table then, lol, at least in this shot.

at Joyworks in Snohomish, a rusty brown urn with a rose topiary in it,
and a chicken wire cloche with eggs in it.

I've never seen chocolate milk glass. It is so pretty. I just love those green toile plates, and they look fabulous with the chocolate color. If I had a few more inches of shelf space left in my house, I'd be trying to find some of those to buy. Your kitchen table looks like such a fun place to eat and laugh. laurie

I love how you mixed and matched the different patterns...I think they're all gorgeous together!!! Ooooh...I just love your centerpiece! Oh Linda, it's all so beautiful - and I have never, ever, ever - in all of my days, seen chocolate milk glass. How interesting is that!? Love the color green with the soft chocolate. Oh, it's heaven, and that cloche ... I WANT IT! LOL! Gorgeous setting, as usual!

The brown and green combination is executed beautifully. I will have to start suggesting that color combination to newlyweds that I work with. The setting of your table in the kitchen with the storage shelves in the background is fabulous. Thanks for the inspiration.

I have forgotten how much I like brown and green together. There is just something about it! I have never seen chocolate milk glass. Or maybe I have and didn't know what I was looking at. It's so unusual and very beautiful. I enlarged the photo and was looking over your wonderful dining table and surrounding room. So much to see .... very beautiful!
