Time for Show and Tell Friday thanks to Kelli, be sure and check out her blog,http://kellishouse.blogspot.com/ , for other Show and Tell posters this week. Always fun to see what others are showing!
Someone before had commented about milk glass plates I used in a table scape, so thought I would go back to my milk glass collection to do a bit of showing and telling.
These are just a few of my milk glass plates in my collection. I have others, some with more painting on them, some with mold work ( like my Easter plates I have shown before) in the centers, some bigger and some smaller.
There really is a great variety of them that were made. Originally by many of the old glass companies in Victorian times, then the molds were purchased by newer glass companies and reproduced with a variety of decoration on them.
(Click on any photo to enlarge)
Plates from L to R, Top to Bottom= Sheaf of Wheat border, Wicket border,
Gothic border and 101 Border.
This has some really fine glass edges, I think an error in molding or
production . Also you will see little black specks in the glass, these are usual inclusions
for very old glass. You will also sometimes see bubbles or pour marks in the old glass.
These are all normal and do not devalue in anyway.
