Metamorphosis Monday...something old is new again!

Time for Metamorphosis Monday thanks to Susan at
Be sure and check out her wonderful blog and see who else is
doing some great transformations on Met Monday this week!

This week I hope to finish the Halloween decorations, been to busy with my parents here visiting for 5 days.
BEFORE...
How I had the living room mantel 2 weeks ago.

AFTER...now done for Halloween.
And I have a lace spiderweb mantel scarf or runner to put on too when I dig
out those things later today or tomorrow.

And this week a second Before and After.

BEFORE...
My mother brought me a couple things from home this week.
One being this old old little two drawer chest with all it's ormuluie
greatness.
We are not sure how old or who's family it came from.
Was in things of my great Aunt's who inherited from her
Grandparents etc.
My Great Great Grandfather was Swiss and lived near the French border.
He spoke; Swiss, French, I think some German and English .
So we are pretty sure this is from his side of the family.

It even has a cool old big key to lock and also open the drawers.

How the wood is veneered on to the top and drawers also.

Some of the pretty detail.

AFTER...
I am going to use it as a jewelry chest in our bedroom.
Still primping things on and around it.
I will have to find some of those flocked jewelry
trays to put inside to hold my jewelry.
I am thrilled to have this family piece in our home!

And the other cool thing she brought me that
I always wanted. Not of great value but it came
from England where I was born.
So I usually get the English things.
This old produce crate.
We have had it forever.
Is all made out of bent wood etc.
I have it in the kitchen now, under our phone, going to put a wood
top on it and store the phone books in it.

Love those goodies, Linda. The small chest is a lovely piece with beautiful inlay and hardware. I'd treasure that. And don't let my partner Allison see the English bin 'cause she'll break in and grab it. LOL. Thanks for stopping by.
