Taking a break from Tablescapes till next week.....the story of the painted pumpkins.

Well I didn't get my table scape done this week and sort of needed a break to read others and not do one. So going to do a bit of that this week instead, but I got one coming again soon.
Plus is a busy week and today I am trying to get my housework done and hopefully some things listed on eBay before the next two days when I am busy.
Thought I would tell the story of the painted pumpkins in my sidebar before I remove those photos for the season.
Several years ago I started my painting part of my so called "business". I put things on
consignment first at our local Foster's Produce Farm/Pumpkin Patch as they were also selling antiques etc.
Well one year before Halloween they called me with an emergency situation.
This call late on a Thursday. I think Halloween was a Friday that year.
Their daughter who is an artist herself was suppose to paint some real pumpkins for
the widow of a famous Mt. Climber who lives in Bellevue, WA. and who throws lavish parties for her grandchildren
( his name is Pete Schoening if you want to learn about him, amazing story).
So they asked if I could help as their daughter couldn't do it.
I said yes, not even knowing if I could pull it off but would try.
With a few instructions on what she sort of wanted
they brought me 5 large pumpkins and I began, I literally had 24 hours to pull this off.
I had no idea if the paint would stick, if after I painted them the sealer I sprayed them with would make the paint run or what would happen.
I was literally using a blow dryer between coats etc. to make the paint dry faster so I could get it done.
But Voila' it happened and I even got paid well etc.
So then after that I could put real Pumpkin Painter on my resume, LOL!
( They even came back to me the next year to have me do it again, but this time also tried to do the 24 hr. thing and I was not feeling to good at the time. So I had to say No ( a word I am not afraid to use sometimes when necessary!). Plus I thought hey, one time is ok if you need help, but come on, she knew she was throwing a party ahead of time. So next time be a little thoughtful and give me like a week, if you know what I mean!)
