Headboard transformation begins + Weekend garage sale finds.

Well I actually had my carpenter aka Hubby home for part of the day today.
So he got time to work on the headboard project.
A few posts ago I showed the foot board and head board separate .
It is from my grandparents double bed set.
It has seen better days and so we decided to make a King sized head board out of the
2 pieces by joining them.
We took to equal pieces off each side of the foot board and added them to the sides of
the existing headboard.
One finial off the headboard was lost years ago, so we are going to replace both of those with
2 other old ones I found in my travels.
Then I am going to work on painting the whole thing, that will be next on my list this week.
But after wedding prep things of course!

This is the center portion that is left from the foot board of the bed.
It is to ornate to just throw away but not sure what I can make from it.
Perhaps a cool shelf or add some sconces on either side and hang on the wall.
I will give it a bit of restoration to cover the scratches and feed the wood.
Any neat ideas for what to do with it, I am game, let me know?????

These were two of my weekend garage sale finds; this neat three tiered server
and this birdcage, both $2 each.
I figured for that much I could find something to do with them.
I haven't garage saled hardly at all this year because I had my own things to
sell. But I saw a couple of signs and it is a rule in the Garage Saler's Handbook that you have to
at least stop and look if you see a sign!! LOL

The headboard transformation is coming along nicely, I see. (Yay!) As for the leftover center from the foot board, how about a MIRROR in EACH of the side panels, and then hang it on the wall between sconces? Just a thought...
