Time for another Metamorphosis Monday...thanks to our hostess Susan at http://www.betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/
Be sure and check out her great blog and see who else is showing great transformations this week!
BEFORE...
I bought our kitchen chairs several years ago at The Spare Room, a local antique mall.
They are oak and I chose to leave them unpainted because of that pretty wood.
They also came with some fabric on the seats that was great at the time for our kitchen, so no recovering needed.
(Click on any photo to enlarge)
Very county and just the right colors to go in the kitchen.
But last week...
AFTER... I found some Waverly fabric at a thrift store, left overs from someones project.
It is in the "Country Life" Garnet Toile pattern. I LOVE Toile, still don't have a toile room but sure could have one I like it so much.
But hey, why not add a little toile for a change to our kitchen?!
So I bought some scrap yardage and also an unfinished valance for $2.00 for all of it.
I had enough to recover 3 of our 4 chairs. I just recovered
right over the other fabric, so it is still there if I ever want to switch back.
A little brighter white in the back ground but it still looks ok in the kitchen with the off white table etc.
Sort of adds a fresh look to the place.
I like the change, something new for just a little.
I ordered some more fabric the same online, so I am going to cover the other chair and also make
some napkins or table runners etc.
BEFORE...if you can see from this photo, had a long Rooster or Chicken tapestry valance
on our kitchen window. Still like it and will tuck it away in the cupboard to save to use again.
But sometimes fun to have a change.
AFTER... the new valance was already trimmed in the red patterned fabric on the bottom.
Just needed a rod pocket made and voila!
It is shorter than the old valance so actually lets more light in the room through this window.
I am loving the toile!
And the red patterned border bottom goes great with my wallpaper in the kitchen and cabinet
inserts. So I have gone country roosters to toile , at least for now!
