Metamorphosis Monday.....a table for a shelf!

Time for the ever fun Metamorphosis Monday!
I hope I get more time this week to see other's posts and what they have transformed.
for being our hostess.
Be sure and stop in her blog for all the posters this week!

Before.......I had a small drop leaf sides wooden table that needed a paint job and some help, leaves were off etc. I got it at a garage sale for $10 but had not done a thing with it.
So last year at a garage sale I had, I sold the table, minus it's leaves for $20.
And I had the leaves left over, in this icky green color but with a cute shape.
Here it is before I started to paint it.
( Click on any photo to enlarge)
Then my mother went by my old grade school that they were tearing down to build a new one, which made me a bit sad. I asked her to get me a brick or something for old times sake.
Well she got me a couple things, one is this piece of shelving.
It was the same length as the table leaf.
I painted it antique white as well as the table leaf piece.
I found this pattern to use as a stencil on the Internet, along with all the
alphabet but wanted the Q for our last name.

After painting the leaf piece I drew on the Q in the center.

Then I outlined it with a black marking pen.
Then I painted it in with black flat furniture paint.

After..........
I spray painted these metal brackets flat black for the contrast.
I found the
pair at the thrift store for about $5.

I attached the brackets to the leaf and the piece of shelving to
make my own cute shelf.
I put on hanging hardware on the back top.
So this will be a cute addition to my craft room when we get it done.
It is going to have a black and cream motif.

I think it will be cute with some of my photos and cute things
on it above my work station in my craft room to be!
What do you think?
